Lapis is a deep blue gemstone often marked with natural gold-toned specks and white veining, giving it a distinctive, earthy look. It has a Mohs hardness of about 5–6 — meaning it can handle everyday wear but may scratch if it comes into contact with harder materials. Because lapis forms with a natural mix of minerals, each bead shows its own balance of blue, white, and metallic flecks.
